Community

Join Diablo Writers’ Workshop live & in-person at Orinda Books as we welcome new writers and celebrate our DWW community. The event is free and includes treats, a raffle, book recommendations and plenty of time to connect. There will be time to learn what we’re about and time to write a bit, if you’d like.
Diablo Writers’ Workshop got its start with classes at Orinda Books nearly 6 years ago. We are thrilled to have upcoming classes in-store and more on Zoom.
Writers, let’s celebrate! – Janine & Andrea
DWW is a vibrant community of writers who support each other
and have fun. We work hard to keep you posted about exciting
writerly events, readings, interviews, and more, happening live in
the Bay Area and virtually everywhere. The DWW newsletter,
Write On!, is the best way to learn about these opportunities.

We also feature the recently published work of our DWW community
(i.e., writers who have participated in a class or workshop or done editorial
consulting with us) in our newsletter too.
If you have recently published in a journal or anthology or have a book released let us know. Send an email with
your name, the title, the outlet or publisher, date published, and a link.
Readings
Our most recent reading, Solstice, was held on June 21 at our favorite independent bookstore, Orinda Books. Six writers from our community: Maria Rowland, Yolanda Melendez Joosten, Pat Rudebusch, Jim Gunshinan, Joan, Smith, and Monica Brar shared short works including lyric essay, science-fiction, a braided/topical essay, poetry, fantasy and humor. We had great turn out and enjoyed spending the longest day together while also celebrating the fifth anniversary of Diablo Writers' Workshop.

Flash Night, was held in October, 2021, also at Orinda Books. Eight writers from the DWW community read short works to over 30 friends and family onsite and 70 more watching and listening virtually via Zoom. Two of the writers read from remote locations as well. A wonderful hybrid event with writers and readers from across the country.
